TAIPAN John Gokongwei, or more accurately, his nephew Frederick Go of Robinsons Land, is offering their Ortigas neighbor, the Poveda Learning Center, a bigger property in the suburbs, or a combination of cash and land, in exchange for their present campus.
The Ortigases are quietly supportive of the Gokongwei proposal, since about one-fourth of the nearly two-hectare campus would revert back to them under the terms of a deed of donation, should Poveda decide to sell or exchange it.

A HUMONGOUS billboard of boxer Manny Pacquiao has been erected overlooking, and within spitting distance of, the Metro Manila Development Authority main offices on EDSA. For those who were born only yesterday, the MMDA is currently at the forefront of an anti-billboard campaign, dismantling giant billboards along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, C-5, and other key Metro Manila roads.

De Venecia ‘house’ for sale
December 11, 2006Â
HOUSE Speaker and Mrs. Jose de Venecia have quietly put their 1,400-square-meter Dasmarinas Village property on the block, this we have confirmed.
The two-story-house that had been home and a mute witness to the country’s tumultuous political history had been demolished, after a fire gutted it nearly two years ago and caused the life of the Speaker’s youngest daughter, KC.
The property, at 2288 Magnolia St., was acquired by de Venecia in 1986 from Vicente Arenas, the father-in-law of socialite/impresario Rosemarie “Baby†Arenas. Its immediate neighbors include such buena familias as the Todas and the Romulos.Since the 2004 accident, the de Venecias had offered several masses and had the property blessed several times, but Mrs. de Venecia herself has never visited the property again.
