The Gigi Montinola discount

AURELIO “Gigi” Montinola III has delivered 33 percent higher profits for the Bank of the Philippine Islands while keeping senior executive compensation still way below than what his team had inherited two years ago.
According to BPI documents, Montinola and four other top executives received P96.866 million in salaries and bonuses in 2006, way less than the P107.2 million total senior executive compensation in 2004, when the top management team was still led by Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala II.
